Now that I’m back home after a much-needed long weekend away, I’m feeling more rested but also a little derailed. I got to take a little time off for my body but went and totally derailed my sleep schedule, not to mention my overall nutrition. Pizza, french fries, wine, and sour beer, oh my! Whoops.
With summer upon us and vacations on the brain, it’s important to remember that you can come back from your long weekend, or week away and hit reset to get yourself back to feeling…well…like yourself again.
Here are my top 3 favorite ways to hit reset!
Get back to your routine.
Even though I wasn’t feeling up to an early morning wake up on Monday, I forced myself to get out of bed at my normal time and get my sweat on. I knew that running wouldn’t feel as easy as it should, but I also knew that a crappy run is better than no run at all. I kept telling myself that if I got myself out the door for a run, it would make all the difference in getting myself back on track. And thankfully, it did!
It just goes to show that if you set yourself up to do the things you normally do in a day, it’s much easier to shift yourself (and your body!) back into your regular mode.
And it’s not enough to just get back to fitness and sleep routines, you also have to get back to your eating routines. For me, it was all about starting my day with an easy, healthy smoothie containing 1 banana, 1 handful of antioxidant rich blueberries, 1 scoop chocolate Designer Protein Organic Pro 30 protein powder, almond milk, ice and voila…healthy breakfast!
Step up your hydration game!
When you’ve enjoyed your time off a little too much (ahem, wine…ahem.. sour beer), you’ll most likely come back feeling dehydrated, which can increase hunger and cause you to feel bloated and lethargic. Curb this by getting back on the hydration game – check out these great tips for hydration and delicious recipe for fruit skewers from Ben Zorn.
Amp up your fitness routine!
Forcing myself to run first thing on Monday was just the beginning of hitting my reset button; I knew that in order to keep moving throughout the week, I would need to turn the volume up on my workouts.
To counteract the post vacation mode, I like to mix in higher intensity workouts with my usual workouts to help me activate new muscles and ramp up the calorie burn. And I’m absolutely loving this workout from the Zorn brothers!

Stay sweaty friends!

Disclaimer: I am participating in the #AthleteInside Challenge with Designer Protein and was provided with product to try and review. That said, all opinions, words, and sour beer and wine consuming are my very own. I truly appreciate all of the brands that support the Sweat Pink community.

June 20, 2017 at 3:32 pmI just wrote about this on my own blog. I just came back from a family-filled weekend in Mississippi where I did not hold back. I felt horrible when I came back, but the next day I was back on track.
