This week’s chocolate of the week is special to me; we actually brought it back from our honeymoon in Ecuador (and visited one of their stores in Quito). Kallari Chocolate bars are actually a product of the Kallari cooperative that was formed by the Quichua farmers and volunteers who now market and sell their own chocolate. The New York Times did a really interesting article on the cooperative if you want to learn more.
This particular bar is 60% cacao (pretty mild dark chocolate) with roasted coffee. It tastes like a high quality mocha (not overly sugary) or even coffee ice cream. So basically, its really good. Coffee + chocolate=heaven.
You can find Kallari chocolates at most Whole Foods or buy it online. Also follow them on Twitter @KollariChoc
Stay Sweaty friends,
XOXO
