Meet my new monster #AbbietheVizsla

March 4, 2015 by Jamie 14 Comments

First, HUGE thank you to our good friend Travis and all of our amazing San Francisco friends for an incredible send off on Friday night…We had such a great time and are going to miss all of you SO MUCH.

So…. I should issue a warning before you read any further into this post….but you might experience a little cuteness overload. You may have noticed that my blog has been pretty darn quiet the last couple of weeks and that’s because my life has been anything but quiet. I ran 90 miles, made a 16 hour trip to San Diego to pick-up  my new monster and then turned around and moved to Portland the next day. Whew.

Meet my new monster, AKA #AbbietheVizsla.

Last Thursday night I took the last flight into San Diego, stayed the night somewhere in Fallbrook, got a whopping 4 hours of sleep and then got to pick up my new little monster in the early morning hours before driving her all the way back to San Francisco (9 hours in the car with my new little girl). And while that long drive wasn’t ideal, she was amazingly good. She slept a lot on her little dog bed, hardly whimpered and rolled with the whole day…all the driving, saying bye to her siblings and more.

When we finally got to the San Francisco airport, we returned the rental car and loaded up into Casey’s car. He was sooo happy to finally meet her. We got home around quarter to six and then hustled our butts over to Travis’ for a little going away party. Abbie wasn’t entirely sure about the party so she made sure to pee and poo on his floor before we left. When we got back home, she was completely wiped and ready to put the long travel day behind her (as was I).

On Friday, we woke up around 4am and started our move. Another long, stressful day of packing, loading and then driving 5 or so hours up to Ashland before retiring for the night. Again, she was a total trooper. We took a quick walk through downtown Ashland and our little girl was COLD – think we’re going to have to get her a doggy jacket for these Oregon winters! 😉

After spending a little time in Ashland we were off to Portland…the final leg of our journey. And again, my little monster was nearly perfect. She spent a lot of time sleeping in my lap and terrorizing #BellathePoodle.

We have now been in Portland for 3.5 days (living with our amazing friends) and are loving it thus far. Abbie has been to her first brewery (naturally),  has mastered the art of shopping (sleeping through the whole process) and has been my trusty errand / work companion – mostly sleeping in my arms – or romping around our friend’s house with Bella.

Tomorrow we move into our new home and I couldn’t be more excited for this amazing new chapter in our lives. By the next week, Abbie and I will be ready to get back into some normal routines…and I’m sure more cuteness overload posts are to follow. For now, enjoy all the puppy pics ;).

Stay sweaty friends!

XOXO

Jamie

Awww… she is the sweetest! My sis has a vizsla named Lucy! They’re the best dogs (I keep begging the bf for one) 🙂

Congrats on your move, too! Sounds like you’re settling in well!
