Ok, big news. Today I am 13 weeks old, 14 lbs and one week away from getting to go on all the walks in all the places. I get my final vaccinations next Monday and then FREEDOM rings! I’m so excited to get out and explore the world, experience a dog park and hike the beautiful trails with my mom (seriously can’t want to track in mud, leaves and sticks).
Anyway…
Last week, I had my first playdate with Hank and Brandi, the chihuahuas and while I thought it was a ton of fun, they weren’t so sure. They were about half my size and so much fun to leap over. My mom kept giving me treats and saying “gentle” but then as soon as she’d release me, I’d be back to lunging, leaping, running excitedly at the little barking chihuahuas. They were a bit older than me and my mom says pretty annoyed by me. I just thought the barking was because they were having so much fun.
On Friday morning, I gave my parents quite a scare. When my mom came to take me out of my crate in the morning, she noticed that I had wet the crate. It was the first time I had ever had an accident in my crate and she was worried about that. She took me out to potty before breakfast and I threw up twice and then started squatting everywhere – sometimes a trickle, sometimes nothing coming out. I kept doing this over and over and over. I did eat breakfast which seemed to please her but then just wanted to sleep and whine. She eventually woke me up and took me to the doctor. I cried a LOT when she left and she says almost did too.
It turns out I have a UTI which would explain my accident in the crate and my air squats and accidents. I’m feeling much better today and get to have a treat every morning and every evening (something about an antibiotic) so I’m loving that.
This week my mom and I start puppy obedience classes which I’m pretty pumped about. I hear there will be many more puppies and treats!
ONE MORE WEEK!
