I always expected mom life to be hard. I was ready for showers to become less frequent (and also much shorter), I was ready to lose my free time, and of course sleep; what I didn’t expect, was to get totally and completely dehydrated on a frequent basis.
Ever since becoming a mom, I’ve been bad about drinking water. In fact, it has been so bad that I joke that I’m going to start wearing a hydration vest for everyday life. Or possibly stay hooked to an IV. Or maybe just acquire a third arm.
Days with a newborn are both long and also short, at the same time. I find myself constantly wondering how it’s only 2 pm (especially when I’ve been awake since 4:45 am) and at the same time, how it’s already 2 pm given I usually haven’t eaten or had more than a glass of water. Needless to say, I’m usually left feeling dehydrated and drained by the end of the day, only to wake up feeling hungover (without any alcohol to blame!).
And I know something has got to give.
Since the newborn isn’t going anywhere, I know I need to do a big overhaul on my drinking habits which is why I’m so thrilled to be participating in Gerolsteiner’s annual 5-day Sparkling Detox (August 27-31). This will be my third year in a row participating in the Sparkling Detox and perhaps, my most significant year yet.
Drinking only Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water for five days will not only help motivate me to drink less coffee and sugary beverages, but will keep me more accountable for my hydration. I’ll be forced to drink more water – and at the same time benefit from all the good-for-me minerals (like calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate) that are packed into every bottle of Gerolsteiner.
According to Gerolsteiner’s tips for better hydration, one of the best ways to stay well hydrated is to build a strong habit – to find a hydration routine that works for your lifestyle. My aim with the Sparkling Detox will be to create a long-lasting habit of better hydration that I can use as I adjust to new mom life and beyond.
Whether you’re a new mom in need of a third arm and a better self care strategy, or just someone craving a little more sparkle in your life, join me for this fun, sparkly five day detox.
Gerolsteiner will be kicking things off tomorrow (Wednesday, July 11) with a fun sweepstakes where entrants will have a chance to win a FREE case of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral water – the very best way to get detox ready!
Drinking more water? Adding more sparkle to our lives? I think we can all cheers to that!
