After Saturday’s 16 mile trail run, my legs were still feeling pretty tight so I decided it was yoga or bust. And because I couldn’t really motivate myself to do a home practice, I dragged my tired legs up for a late afternoon class at Yoga Flow SF in hopes that I would feel nice and stretched out before my SUP Yoga class and hike that I had planned for Sunday morning and afternoon.
And it kind of worked, my legs felt much lighter on my walk home from class. But I didn’t stop there. If only I had stopped there...hahah…after class, I grabbed a veggie burger and sweet potato fries at Roam with Travis which was decidedly well earned. Roam Burgers just might be my new favorite post run treat. SO GOOD. After eating and walking home, I got wrapped up reading (finishing a book I started earlier this summer) and saw texts from friends about going out dancing. I almost resisted. Almost. Nearly resisted. But then they said Michael Jackson vs. Prince night and I was in. I threw together a costume in about 10 minutes (not my best effort) and headed off to dance the night away with Carrie (aka cowgirl with a unicorn). So much for relaxing!
I woke up on Sunday feeling a little dehydrated and again, tight. Oh, and pretty tired. Oops. But I had a date with Ali and Carrie for SUP Yoga so no rest for the weary. I picked up Ali, grabbed coffee at Rapha (fancy cycling store that also has an amazing coffee bar) and made our way over to Sausalito for the 9am class with Leigh (who is AWESOME, btw).
It was a near perfect day. Warm temps, calm waters, and seals galore playing nearby. Since Leigh and her team at OnBoard Sup just moved to a new location, class was a bit smaller than usual which meant it was also a little more advanced than usual.
It was fun to explore a bit more of the standing series and get into more balance work – I swear Warrior 1 and 2 are harder than a headstand on a paddleboard!
We also worked on headstands, crow pose, and lots and lots of abs (boat pose on a “boat”, love it). I also worked on peacock, of course. 😉
We also got majorly into our hips (which I really needed). Thank god, for pigeon pose – so much easier / stretchier on the board for some reason!
After an amazing class, we brunched at Bayside Cafe (for all your glutards, they have an assortment of gluten-free breakfast options…and for those of you without restrictions, they have just about everything else) and then headed towards downtown Mill Valley with the best intentions: to hike off our giant brunch….
Only we got stuck downtown and lured into cute shops….so our hike became a bit more of an urban hike….from store to store…and a few cute tops at a consignment shop later, we finally got in a little hike up the Dipsea Stairs.
And then more coffee at Equator and a short trip to San Francisco Running Company to say hi to Jenny before heading back to the city! 😉
Needless to say, I’m gonna need a bunch of coffee to get me through this day…and a good, quick run!
Stay Sweaty friends,
XOXO
Jamie
