I grew up swimming, diving and also lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons; I was one of those kids who had a permanent green sheen to their hair and swimsuit tan lines from so many hours in the pool. I probably had a bigger collection of Speedo swimsuits than most people have socks. Every year, we had a new suit for swim team and I didn’t always grow every year so year after year, swimsuit after swimsuit, I suddenly had a lot of them.
I’ve been thinking a lot about getting back in the pool (and the water, in general) on a more consistent basis. I love swimming and being in and around water. I’ve been doing a lot more stand up paddleboarding and even more SUP Yoga. I’m also determined to get back out on a surf board and even just back in the pool (or the Bay) to swim some laps. Maybe (just maybe) I’ll even do another triathlon someday…
To motivate myself even further, I knew I needed a new cute sporty swimsuit – something that was both fashionable and functional – the old Speedos were neither of those things anymore (most of them stretched, weathered and severely outdated). I got introduced to Coeur Sports via the SweatPink community and have been eyeing their swimsuit collection for the past several months.
I finally pulled the trigger on an adorable gray Chevron print two piece (I love two pieces!) and am so glad I did. When I first pulled it out of the package, I was a little concerned…was it going to fit? it was soooo cute, would it truly be functional? A nice note from the founders and an easy exchange policy assuaged my fears.
I put the suit on and couldn’t believe how cute it was and how amazingly sturdy and supportive it felt. The bottoms even have an inner drawstring so you can tighten as much as needed (love that!). I tested it out on a couple of SUP Yoga adventures and couldn’t have been happier with it. The final test was lap swimming. Would it survive the butterfly? A flip turn? A dive? Check. Check. And Check! It passed with flying colors.
I am OBSESSED with my new suit (thanks Coeur Sports) and wonder if it will singlehandedly inspire an Ironman…
Stay Sweaty friends!
XOXO,
Jamie
