I don’t know about y’all but this last week went by really fast. After I taught my Glider Yoga class at 6 am on Monday morning, I got on the road and headed up to Lake Tahoe to celebrate my mom’s birthday. My parents were already up there but without the pooches so I stopped and picked them up on my way up the hill. One poodle, one labradoodle and some super heavy breathing and we finally made our way up the mountain.
We got up there mid afternoon and it went straight to the trails near Brautovich Park. It was a sunny, 57 degrees – ran in my tank top and was wishing I had worn shorts. There were a few slippery, icy patches on our climb up but no real snow to speak of. We did about 5 miles, enjoyed the views and then headed back to join my parents for dinner. I don’t know if it was the altitude or a very early morning that started with 2 hours of yoga…but I was wiped out!
Given the warm temps on Monday, I half expected to wake up and see a beach outside my window. Instead, I woke up to heavy rain so went to grab some coffee and maybe wait it out or….just get my big girl pants on for a nice wet run. Only, it didn’t stop. The rain slowly turned into snow and soon the roads were covered. We decided to get out on the trails and get some fresh tracks – my mom and her friend Connie on snowshoes and the dogs and I on foot. We managed a good 6 miles – which I was super proud of – given I was trekking through some fresh, decently deep snow.
On Wednesday, I woke up a little later after staying up a little too late with mom but got my butt out on the trails anyway. The dogs were stoked – the first mile which was a straight up, crazy vertical climb – they were running back and forth, chasing each other up and down the hill and herding me. They must think I’m SO SLOW. HA. After the first couple miles, I could tell they were tired…and my legs were pretty tight and lungs were burning so we cut it a little shorter. About 4 miles or so. Good enough in that slippery, melty snow! 😉
Clearly I’m getting a TON of use out of my new prAna jacket (which I freaking LOVE – it’s warm, packable, and oh so cute!).
Drove down the hill on Wednesday and continued my run streak Thurs (5 miles), Fri (6 miles) and Saturday (4.5 miles). Only to break it today…after having a little too much fun on Saturday night.
Since there hasn’t been enough snow to make snowboarding worth it, I’ve just started exploring all the trails in Tahoe….one way I’m making #NoExcuses and just getting ‘er done!
This week, I’ve got some big workout plans. Can’t wait to start the prAna Take the Leap 30 days of yoga challenge AND get my #LJFitChallenge on! WOOT WOOT!
