Last night, I got my butt back on track (literally) with #TeamLunaChix Portland. We started our workout on the Lincoln High School track – 2 warm-up laps and then got kicked off (graciously, of course) by one of the high school track coaches. Apparently there were a few too many kids using the track for us to also be out there.
No big deal. We got off the track and moved our workout to the streets. Jenn, our fearless leader got us in a huddle to debate routes and plans and it was decided that we’d do 20 minutes of hill repeats – as many as you could do before the time ran out – so up, down, up, down, up down we would go.
When the clock started, we went for our first hill lap. Given there were about 10 of us, we split up into two groups on either side of the street. Since I was really needing a little time to think, sweat it out and breathe, I pushed myself through the workout. And while it might have appeared to be a little anti-social, having the group there at every turn made it easier to keep pushing through. High fives, friendly faces and a little determination, helped me get through the 20 minutes without stopping (unless you count taking off my jacket!).
About halfway through the hill repeats workout, it started raining on us and it actually felt good. We pushed through the last few laps and then met at the top to stretch it all out.
Afterwards as I was walking back to my car, I realized that I either had no idea where it actually was or it had been towed. I wandered around from block to block for about half and hour before calling my husband. He had just arrived when I finally found the car, of course so I felt pretty silly.
We got home pretty late and made a kitchen sink salad and called it a night with our sleepy, adorable pup.
How are you getting your butt back on track this week and what kind of group runner are you?

April 7, 2015 at 10:25 amGreat work last night; thanks for coming out despite the snafus and the weather! Wish I had known you were wandering – we could’ve gotten in a few more miles together while jogging around searching for your wheels (no such thing as lost, just “extending the run”), LOL.

April 11, 2015 at 11:27 amYAY! So…I totally skipped my run this morning. I’d feel guilty about it but…well, no. No I wouldn’t. I’m fully aware that I’m not doing a great job of getting back on track. Lol. I love running in groups though. Pushes me.
