I’m soooo beyond excited to announce that I’ll be participating in my first ever stage race, the Golden Ultra Marathon in Golden, BC from September 18-20. Three days of trail running, beautiful views and all kinds of sweaty fun.
The Golden Ultra features three stages: The Blood, the Sweat and The Tears. The Blood is a 5K with 1,000 meters of vertical gain. The Sweat is the kicker; its a 55K race with over 2,500 meters of elevation gain. And finally, the Tears is a relatively easy 20K with only 375 meters of elevation gain. So I’ll be doing an 80K (nearly 50 miles) over the three days.
I’ve never done a stage race (unless you count a relay race) and can imagine it will be a lot harder than running a 50 miler all in one day…waking up with sore legs and a tired body and then hitting the trails again for more miles…whew…tired just thinking about it. But even as hard as it might be, I also know its going to be a ton of fun (and not to mention, beautiful!).
If you’re interested in joining me for this fun adventure, whether for one day (one distance), or to do the solo 3 day stage race or even as part of a relay team, you can register here.
