Last night after our exciting afternoon at urgent care (be careful slicing those bagels in half y’all!!), we headed to Rainshadow Running’s Trail Running Film Fest at the Roxie Theater with a group of friends. Admittedly when I first bought tickets for the film fest, I was unaware that it was presented by Rainshadow Running or perhaps I just wasn’t paying close attention. Anyway, it was exciting to me mostly because I recently signed up for Rainshadow Running’s Gorge 50k (actually the first lottery that I have EVER gotten into) and loved seeing the preview videos for the race (holy waterfalls!!).
The film fest itself was an interesting event; it was a mix of film previews, film shorts and feature films about running. And I really enjoyed most of the films – my favorite was Around Patagonia – travel, adventure, running and AMAZING scenery. Makes me want to pack my bags and fly away. I also really wanted to continue watching Finding Traction, the film about Nikki Kimball doing the Vermont Long Trail (273 miles) – it was so disappointing to only get a quick preview of the film as she’s such an ultra running badass.
We also saw films about running for activism, running the Colorado Trail (we decided Casey looks a little like Scott Jaime, the runner in this film) and a funny preview for a film called the Traveler, a lot of clips of the guy getting stuck in some crazy snowy places.
After the films, we grabbed a quick bite to eat at West of Pecos around the corner from the Roxie. Really yummy guac and a vegetarian chili relleno. Yum.
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO,
Jamie
