I’m pretty proud to say that I’ve been kicking my running game back into high gear. In fact, I was able to squeeze in some pretty decent mileage this weekend – nearly 16 miles – between a fast Flex & Flow Run Club run on the Portland Waterfront on Saturday morning…
and a family run exploring Tillamook State Forest on Sunday – for a total of 30.2 miles for the week (surpassing my weekly goal by a whopping .2 miles – boom!).
While I’m pretty proud to be getting my mileage back up, along with my daily yoga practice, weekly hiit yoga training
and bootcamp classes, I’m definitely feeling the effects.

Some of the effects are truly positive…
- Like falling asleep as soon as I hit the pillow and sleeping like the dead until my alarm goes off
- Seeing results – faster run times, stronger body, improved flexibility
- Second breakfast. Nuff’ said.

But some of the less pleasant effects, like:
- Dehydration
- Soreness / stiffness
- General exhaustion
got me thinking….
And I decided that while I’m upping my workout game, it’s also time to start upping my hydration and foam rolling game. I’m making sure to bring my SOS Rehydrate packets along with me in my water bottle on every run, and am being even more diligent about getting my morning smoothie (even when it means waking up at 5am vs. 5:15), and to foam roll at least two times per week.
On top of all of that, I discovered a new way to make weekend hydration a little more fun with simple post run mocktails using CORE Organic, soda water and lemon. If you want to add a little hydration fun into your life, try this easy and delicious CORE Organic mocktail:
- 1/2 cup CORE Organic Watermelon Lemonade
- 1/2 cup sparkling water
- Couple splashes of lemon juice
Add ice, put in a wine glass or fun cocktail tumbler and enjoy with a nice sunset. 🙂
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO
Jamie
