I’m so excited to introduce you to my #BlogFest Buddy, Lisa from Fit & Wordy Girl! She’s brand new to the blogging world and the Sweat Pink community and from what I’ve learned about her thus far, she’s excited to dive right in!
Can’t wait to hang out with this fabulous lady in person at BlogFest this year.
Let’s get to know Lisa!
1. Who are you? Tell us in a brief paragraph who you are / what city you live in / what you blog about?
I’m Lisa and just moved from NYC to San Diego this month! I loved NYC but really wanted to be somewhere where I could be outside year round and in a community that was more fitness focused as a way of life. I’m a newbie to blogging but am planning to review everything from the latest fitness book and classes to the new fitness clothing company. I’d really like Fit & Wordy Girl to be the one-stop advice site for the fitness minded girl.
Editor’s note: so cool! Can’t wait to read all her advice and tips on fitness! What I love most about Lisa is that when we first emailed back and forth, she said I decided I wanted to do more with fitness so I am moving and starting over! She is one brave lady!
2. What are you hoping to get out of BlogFest 2015?
I want to connect with other fitness bloggers who are willing to have their sites reviewed and categorized. Teh most overwhelming part about the blogosphere for me is not knowing where to go for the advice you want. Sometimes you want to learn the best training methods for a marathon and other times you want to do a quick and dirty list of lunch meals under 400 calories.
Editor’s note: good thing BlogFest is ALL ABOUT NETWORKING! New bloggers get so much out of BlogFest…talk about a great way to really start your blog!
3. Who’s your fitness celebrity crush?
Cassey Ho from Blogilates! She rocks everything she tries: YouTube, books, certification, events. She’s a great example of what applying a little entrepreneurial spirit to the fitness industry can do to change the landscape in a positive way. We should all be as brave as Cassey to go after our dreams.
Editor’s note: agreed, Cassey is one amazing gal! I think many of us can relate to her entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude. Such a great example of what building your brand and blog can and should look like.
4. What is your spirit animal?
According to the latest quiz, today I’m a hawk. This is pretty accurate, since I’m notorious for being a terrible multi-tasker but when I drop everything and simply focus on one goal, nothing can stop me. Hawk characteristics include: the power of focus, clear vision, gaining perspective, and connection with spirit.
Editor’s note: watch out y’all, this girl is unstoppable! She’s determined, focused and ready to flex her fitness blogging muscle!
5. Who is the most inspirational person in your life and why?
My dad. I know, cheesy, right? But I really have the best dad in the world. There was never a day in my life when he wasn’t telling me I could do anything I put my mind to. There is no other person in the world who believes in me more…not even myself!
Editor’s note: girl, not cheesy at all. Your dad sounds like one good dude. So spot on!
6. If you could go back to school, what area of study would you focus on?
I would have just skipped college. I just paid of $190K of student loans (which I blog about on my site if you want to know how to do so in 6 years or less). I learn more from life than I ever could have in a formal training course.
Editor’s note: damn, girl, you truly can do it all! Can’t wait to learn your money saving tips and tricks and see how you did it!
7. Bonus question: what does Sweat Pink mean to you?
For me, Sweat Pink means girl power. It means that you embrace being fit and strong as the new definition of sexy and wouldn’t dream of starving yourself because you think stick thin is attractive. It’s about going to the gym to lift heavy and laugh at the thought of ever pretending something is too heavy to make a guy feel better. It’s not about looking or being perfect and still going out anyway.
P.S. Brick Betty is my roomate’s fitness clothing line that she’s trying to launch. If you send me your clothing size, I’ll send you some samples. If you’re able to wear them at BlogFest, even better, but no pressure! You probably have some rockin’ fitness outfits already picked out.
Editor’s note: Damn straight, Sweat Pink is about girl power…or really just power of self, in general. We want to inspire people to move and be healthy and fit. And did you say, new fitness line?….ooohhhhh, count me in!
