Have you heard of bluesign®?
Don’t worry, I hadn’t either…
I’ve always thought of myself as a fairly conscious shopper; I generally care about what I eat, how things are made and how my actions can and will impact the environment. But I have to admit, I’ve never really thought about how the clothes that I am buying and wearing can have just as much impact as all of those plastic water bottles we’re all trying so desperately to recycle, reduce and reuse. I’m usually just thinking how will that top look with these pants or if we’re being real, how can I make my yoga pants look like real pants? And is this an acceptable yoga to wine night outfit?
The truth is, the fashion industry (and yes, this includes fitness apparel!) leaves a huge impact on the environment – from the pesticides that are used to grow cotton and the chemicals from the dyes to get your shirt that perfect shade of purple, to the energy required to produce each piece, to the very people who are making our clothes – which is why I’m so happy to be celebrating prAna’s new spring collection and talking about their commitment to bluesign®.
So what exactly is bluesign®? bluesign® is the gold standard for good working environments and eco-friendly manufacturing processes.
And guess what? prAna has the highest level of certification in North America – which is a HUGE testament to their commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly clothing – and what’s more, they already have 32 items (and counting!) items in the new Spring line bluesign® certified.
So whether you’re looking for a few new pieces for your Spring wardrobe or if you simply want to support the companies that are doing it right, join us for this week’s #poseoftheday challenge with prAna. Each day, starting today (2/1) and ending on Friday (2/5), @FitApproach will be posting a daily yoga pose or theme and all you have to do is post your own variation or interpretation of the pose to your Instagram (and all the social medias), tag @prana @fitapproach @flexandflow and use all the hashtags (#sweatpink #flexandflow #poseoftheday #stopdropandyoga #yogaeverydamnday #prAnastyle #pranaspringstyle) for a chance to win a prize from prAna’s new collection.
