I realize I’m WAY overdue for an update. It’s been about three weeks since I first got the kibosh on all the fun things in life: running, lifting heavy objects, travel, strenuous activity, and even sex.
In the past three weeks, Baby Danger and I have been surprisingly productive and active. For starters, we’ve done a lot of yoga.
We’ve also done a fair amount of hiking (thanks to all my great hiking partners and friends!).
And we’ve used our non running time to really step up our training game with Abbie – we’ve been taking long walks and working on all of her skills – including off-leash walking and heeling. I swear, having placenta previa might be the best thing that ever happened to Abbie (or maybe the best thing that happened to her dog parents…) – she’s a different dog because of it!
I guess what I’m trying to say is, we’ve been adapting. We’ve been finding new ways to stay busy, active, and sane, and it’s been easier than I ever thought it would be.
And yes, I miss running. And for sure, I miss being able to lift weights or do otherwise strenuous activity, but it really hasn’t been that bad. You’re probably rolling your eyes right now and thinking, duhhh, I told you so. It’s about time you stopped whining.
And if you are, well, I’d say you’re right in doing so. It was more than time to stop whining, feeling sorry for myself, and pouting over everything I couldn’t do. It was time to look on the bright side and think of all the things I could do.
Oh – and did I mention, I got a second opinion? I’m currently home for the holidays. I spoke with another doctor who thought it should be fine to travel as long as I went by plane and only for a very short ride.
Earlier this week, I went in for my scheduled ultrasound (I’ll be having monthly ultrasounds as long as I have previa), and I almost can’t even believe I’m saying this, but the placenta is MOVING. I’ve gone from having complete placenta previa to partial – and am rooting this baby to keep on migrating upstream! Let’s MOVE IT ON UP!
The same day as my ultrasound, I also received a missed call from Placentia, CA (I don’t know anyone in Placentia..but it sure sounds a lot like a great place for a bunch of placenta to hang out…). Coincidence? I think not.
I guess there’s nothing quite like a placenta story to really get you in the holiday mood. Amiright?
Happy holidays, friends and as always, stay sweaty!
XO,
Jamie
