I have to admit, I’ve always resisted the whole running skirt thing. As a runner and a tennis player, I’ve always felt like it was wrong to confuse the two things – skirts were for tennis and shorts were for running. And besides, how could anyone run serious miles in a skirt? Wouldn’t it just ride up? And wouldn’t I feel a little silly running the trails…in a skirt? Even as I write this, I know how silly it sounds. And how anti everything I stand for it truly is. I’m the godmother of sweatpink laces. I inspire women to sweat like the badasses they are despite what they look like, wear, or what anyone else thinks.
But I just couldn’t do it.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I received an opportunity (via FitApproach, of course) to try Skirt Sports apparel. Alyse had been raving about their clothes and I thought, why the hell not? So I started browsing, filling my cart with some of their shorts, a super cute “Run” tank – just merely dipping my toes in – and then just before checking out, I decided that if I was truly going to go there, I’d have to get a running skirt…
And I did. I got the Skirt Sports Boulder Skirt in grey (my first ever running skirt, people, whoa).
And I love it.
It doesn’t make me feel any less badass. It doesn’t look silly off the tennis court. In fact, it’s cute, flattering, comfortable and most importantly totally functional. I love that it doesn’t ride up in the middle, sits on my hips and allows me to move more freely (I’ve got some serious quads, people, gotta have that extra room!). While I’m definitely not going to retire my running shorts, I do have to admit that running skirts may be giving them a run for their money.
What are your thoughts on running skirts? Yay or nay?
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO,
Jamie
Disclaimer: Skirt Sports and FitApproach provided me with a running skirt. I was not obligated to write this review, but I chose to do so. And of course all opinions are my own.

May 4, 2015 at 4:11 pmI’m an early adapter even when it comes to running skirts. I bought my first one shortly after Nicole started the company and long before they were really popular. 12 years later I still love them. Fact is, they’re super comfortable and look good. What’s not to like?
