One of the best things about moving to Portland is that we’re so close to so many amazing trails and outdoor spaces. Forest Park is basically our new backyard (and boasts something like 80 miles of trails?) and we’ve been making sure to make some pretty good use of it – whether hiking with Abbie Monster, meeting up for trail runs after work, or getting in some longer runs on the weekends.
Last night, Casey and I met up at the Wildwood trailhead with plans to run about 5 miles which, in my opinion, is the perfect amount of miles to destress and decompress from a busy day. I decided to spice up my running attire and rock my new CSS Brand Sweat Pink compression sleeves – figured I might need a little extra inspiration for the evening’s run.
And I swear, the moment I put my new sleeves on, I felt unstoppable.
What can I say? There’s something about bright pink things that make me feel like a badass. Can’t explain it. It just is what it is.
Anyway, we started off at a pretty normal pace, just enjoying each other’s company and chatting about our days and then we hit the first real climb and things got quiet and we both just got to work. I really don’t know if it was the new Sweat Pink sleeves (or maybe just the fact that we were missing little Abbie Monster) but it was like all of a sudden we were both pushing the pace pretty hard. We pushed all the way up the climb and continued to push until we were well on our way back towards the car. I remember looking down at my watch and thinking, just over a mile to go, keep it up. And we did. We kept pushing. And pushing and pushing. And it felt damn good.
By the time we got back to the trailhead, we were both practically doubled over needing to catch our breath…not to mention completely drenched in sweat. It felt really good to gut out some miles and go a little faster than was comfortable.
I’m not really sure what got into us on our run last night but I’m gonna stick with the power of #SweatPink. It’s gotta be the pink.
Happy Friday everyone. May your weekends be all kinds of #SweatPink fast.
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO,
Jamie
BOOM! The power of #sweatpink and sleeves. Sounds like an amazing day out on the trail!
