I’m a big believer in trying new things. If you always get up, do the same thing every single day, nothing will ever change. If you want to make a change, any change, do something different. Even if it’s just changing up your routine a little bit every day – walking somewhere in a different direction, trying something different for lunch, or even trying out a new workout.
I was feeling the funk last week; I was having an insanely hard time motivating myself to workout, run or do yoga…much less to eat healthy. It lasted so long that I was wondering when and if I would finally snap out of it. And then Saturday happened.
Per my usual Saturday morning routine, I got up for run club.
Somewhere along the way, while putting in the sweaty miles, I decided I would stay after to participate in the Summer Strong bootcamp class immediately after.
And it was the best thing I could have done. After the workout, I felt renewed and refreshed and ready to rock and roll. So much so that I went ahead and did yet another different thing – SUP ‘ing on the river with my girlfriends and all the dogs.
And it was just what I needed…
I got through the weekend feeling great and back on track which carried into my week. Each day, I’ve done something a little different – from trying protein balls (made with Bob’s Red Mill chocolate protein powder) for breakfast instead of a smoothie (thanks Nicci!)…
…to taking Abbie to a different dog park….
…and even shifting my workout routine to include a mid week run and bootcamp session.
And I feel strong (and sore….), powerful and ready for more!
To continue on with all of the progress and change, I’m super excited to be attending an Acro Yoga workshop with the wonderful Ian LeMasters at Flex & Flow. I’ve done Acro Yoga only a handful of times and each time I do it I find new ways to challenge my whole body – flying, inverting and trusting and supporting others to fly and invert.
And who knows what small changes this will bring!!
What little changes do you make each day / week?
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO
Jamie
