A few weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to workout with Olympic snowboarders, Elena Hight and Louie Vito in Mt. Hood where they are currently training. I was both excited and a little nervous about the workout given I had already started my day with an early HIIT Yoga workout and power yoga class, following a steep, hilly trail run and standup paddleboard adventure the day before. Yes. Tired just thinking about it.
As part of the amazing experience, I was also given an opportunity to drive a new Toyota Rav4 hybird vehicle, which had more bells and whistles than I even knew existed. It was so fun to drive, I almost forgot how tired and nervous I was feeling.
I was enjoying the Sirius XM radio, the sunroof, and of course, the amazing gas mileage I was getting.
Plus, Abbie really enjoyed the car as it rides a lot more smoothly, quietly and evenly than my own. Basically, my dream car. So functional. So cute. And so ready for adventure. Kind of like….ahem, me! I kid..I kid….sort of.
When I arrived at the park where the workout was being held, I was instantly greeted by a row of Toyota vehicles and smiling athletes. Upon meeting Louie and Elena, my anxiety had completely subsided; they are so warm, welcoming and inviting.
The workout consisted of a circuit with Louie that would involve a run and an intense ab workout….
And then a cool down yoga session with Elena. She whispered to me that she isn’t a actual yoga teacher and it was endearing that she was actually a little nervous….the Olympic athlete….I assured her she would be more than fine. And of course, she was.
After the workout concluded, we took some silly boomerangs, and talked about dogs, work, and everything in between. At some point, part of the group started to drift off into a sports conversation (like the football kind of sports), and I noticed Elena wasn’t saying anything much either and we bonded over our mutual disinterest. It gave me a chance to get to know her a bit more and chat with her about joining the Sweat Pink community. Excited to have her leading workouts, giving talks and more…very soon. Did I mention I have a total girl crush?
Anyway, if you want to see more of the workout, here’s a little video I created. Enjoy!
Stay sweaty friends,
