Happy Tuesday friends! I was catching up on some good blog reading and stumbled upon #TheUltimateCoffeeDate via Keep it Simple Elle‘s post. The Ultimate Coffee Date is hosted by some fabulous SweatPink sisters – FitnessMomWineCountry, Got2Run4Me, and Confessions of a Mother Runner.
I clearly need the inspiration and I invite all of my fave blogger friends to join this fun, delicious coffee date – the#UltimateCoffeeDate link up for April. So grab your mug and let’s dive in!
I’m enjoying some Verve Coffee from Barista coffee with a splash of almond milk – one of my favorite coffee shops in Portland and my very favorite coffee roaster (thanks to Alyse).
So as we take the first sip of our coffees, the first thing I would tell you is that I’m adjusting to my new life in Portland. And I truly love it here. While I love the city, the food, the culture, and my life here, I would also admit to you that it hasn’t all been sunshine, rainbows and unicorns. Leaving my huge network in San Francisco where I knew virtually everyone in the fitness scene (and had so many great friends!) really isn’t easy. I’m craving community, my go to sweat friends and to teach again!
As we take our next sip, I would tell you that the studios here are great but seem so much more reserved – I miss the vibrancy, creative energy and ready, set go attitude of San Francisco studios. I want to walk in and start teaching – bringing my energy, creative workouts and fun to Portland – I’m tired of waiting. Glider Yoga is tired of waiting.
Maybe San Franciscans are just more used to entrepreneurs, to saying let’s do it…let’s go…or maybe I just forget what its like to be the new kid in town…Maybe its always this hard to be the new kid – to have to prove myself over and over and over again – to have to show people that I’m worth a shot. That I have a lot to give. That by moving slowly, well, they’re only half awake. I like to make things move and want to shake it up a bit here…..
As we take a few more sips and maybe grab a nibble…I’d tell you that I’m trying to figure out where I fit in here. I’m joining running groups, getting ready to start teaching outdoor bootcamps again, signed up for the Portland Trail Race series this summer and am thinking about pacing a new friend at the BigHorn 100 – not only to be a great friend but to experience the beautiful trails, to get in some more night running and hopefully get myself into 2016’s race. What events / races do y’all have planned for this year?
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that having a puppy is amazing. I love her so much. But its also a lot of hard work and responsibility. I would tell you that we’re starting obedience classes and working on socialization. I would also tell you how badly she wants to get outside and play….and that we’re counting down the days until she’s fully vaccinated.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how excited I am for BlogFest this summer. I can’t wait to reconnect with so many friends, meet new friends, get in some amazing workouts, and get educated on all things fitness blogging!
If we were having coffee, I’d be showing off my new prAna gear – all my cute new shirts and long-sleeve layers that I am currently obsessed with.
If we were on our last sip, I’d tell you how excited I am for what’s coming for FitApproach and SweatGuru – 2015 is going to be a big year for us, for the Sweat Pink community, for fitness – and I’m just so excited for all that is in store.
So now its your turn. If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? And what would you drink? 😉
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO
Jamie
Welcome to Portland! We have been drinking a lot of Verve from Barista this week – it is so good! I have a cup of the Ethiopian this morning and we have a batch of Honduran cold brew in the fridge. If you’d ever like to meet up let me know!

Lindsay, I’d love that, let’s make it happen! 😉
Portland sounds like it needs a good dose of positive Jamie energy and vibes! Your puppy is SUPER cute and I am also really excited for Blogfest and to finally meet you in person, yay!

I’m SO pumped for BlogFest this year and to meet you in person (finally) – yay! I can’t wait to start shaking things up here, I feel like its desperately needed. So far, everyone seems sooooo reluctant? Or afraid of a little change. And I thrive / live off of change. So I’m ready. 😉
What a fun link-up! I love coffee and this idea sounds just up my alley! I will have to work on a post later this week! (And I’ll show off my prAna gear too, tehehe! LOVE PRANA!!!!)

YAY, do it girl, COFFEEEEEEE!! 😉
I’d say, hang in there! Having moved around quite a bit over the past 20 years (ack, dating myself!), it always takes some time to settle in – especially when you’ve come from a place that you called “home” for a while. Having moved in August, I’m just starting to feel like I’m hitting my groove, so don’t be too hard on yourself. And I’d also say we should grab a REAL cup of coffee or another puppy date again soon. We’ll have PDX #sweatingpink in no time!

I’m so happy that you’re loving Portland! But any new city takes time to adapt to. Soon you’ll have all your classes, events, and friends sorted and love it even more.
I’m counting down the days until Blogfest. Can’t wait to see all my blogging (and Ragnar) buddies again!
