After spending a very wet and stormy couple of days feeling wayyyy too cooped up in the city, we got out of town early on Friday afternoon to spend a much needed relaxing weekend with our good friends Yelena, Chris and Hunter (their adorable dog) in Tahoe.
See Hunter, the adorable dog in action below…warning I take a LOT of dog pictures as I am just a tad bit obsessed.
We also picked up Bella The Poodle along the way. She is also amazingly cute.
We arrived just after 8 or so and had a nice dinner and catch-up session with our friends before heading off to bed. As per usual Casey and I were up early – and so was Bella – so I grabbed the pooches and went on a 3 mile jog on the cross country trails near the house.
Even though there was an extreme lack of snow (or none at all), it was COLD out there. I made it about a mile and a half before I was frozen to the bone and decided to jog my butt (and the pooches) back towards the house (with a quick stop for coffee, of course). When we got back to the house, the rest of the gang was starting to stir and was ready to hit up a delicious brunch and a little shopping around town. So many bears!!!!
After brunch we found snow – backside of Alpine – and got to try out Chris and Yelena’s snowshoes for a bit. We hiked, ran in the snow, fell on our butts, snowshoed and played…and the dogs pretty much ran circles around us the entire time.
And then of course we made an epic snowperson…
After we soaked through our clothes and wore out the dogs, we headed back to the house for some crazy nacho and wine time.
After chowing down and boozing up, we walked to the beach to catch the sunset. Amaziiiiinnngggg.
Our second day started with another jaunt on the trails with the pooches, brunch and then a long drive home!

December 15, 2014 at 3:16 pmI can’t wait to take the kids and head up to Tahoe this winter. Though I have never tried snowshoes, I have done some cross country skiing in my days and wow that is one heck of a work out. 🙂
