I love Mondays. That’s probably slightly weird to say. But I truly love my Mondays.
My alarm goes off at 5:10 am and I’m out the door at 5:30 with my cold brew in hand to teach a 6 am Glider Yoga class at OmPower and then I typically stick around and take the 7am Power Yoga class. But this morning the usual 7am instructor was out sick so I taught class for her. After two amazing hours of yoga with the beautiful OMpower community, I was off to try out Uforia Studios.
Uforia is an AWESOME boutique fitness studio in downtown Palo Alto that has a variety of cycling, dance, cardio and yoga classes that are all about bringing the fun and energy into every workout. As many of you know, I’m not great about getting on the bike (nor am I great at biking) so I decided to take the Revolutions class (party on a bike!) to get my fix.
I was a little nervous when we were getting our spin shoes – I always freak out about clipping in (so much anxiety…) – but once we were on the bike, I felt immediately comfortable. What impressed me most about Uforia was the smiles and energy in the room. It was a packed class and it was clear to me that every single person in the room truly wanted to be there. It felt like a bike ride with a close family rather than some anonymous spin class. The instructor was dancing, singing, high five’in and feeding the room with her intoxicating energy…not to mention sick beats. 😉 After a good 45 minute ride, my bike and I were completely and totally drenched and I got to give a big sweaty hug to my new friends at Uforia Studios.
The good news for us in San Francisco…..is that Uforia Studios are opening up in San Francisco (on California and Polk) in a sheer matter of weeks. I can’t wait to spin, cycle, groove and move with the Uforia crew a little closer to home.
Of course once we drove back to the city, it was time for a long, hot shower and some carbs. HA.
And the sweat didn’t end there. I still had mountain climbers to complete for the #sweatpink #noexcuses challenge…so I got after it in a big way.
Gonna be so SORE tomorrow.
How was your sweaty Monday y’all?
Stay sweaty!
XOXO

January 19, 2015 at 10:31 pmI have the same clip in/clip out anxiety about cycling shoes… I think it stems from stupidly trying for like 10 minutes at SoulCycle once until some poor soul behind me spun the pedal around and clipped me in. Whoops. So you aren’t alone!

January 19, 2015 at 10:43 pmOMG, really? That makes me feel so much better about myself. No matter how many times I take a spin class, I sit there fumbling with the shoes…I can’t for the life of me figure it out sometimes. It was so bad once during a soul cycle class that I just kept my foot on top of the pedals instead of clipping in because class started and I never actually figured it out. Pretty embarrassing. HA. I’m really glad it’s not just me…

January 20, 2015 at 6:13 amI was ridiculously excited to run yesterday – I have had a random pain in my ankle (I still have zero idea where it came from) so I hadn’t run since Thursday – I was getting antsy!
I’ve never been to a spin class, they’re super intimidating to me – I need to find an all-beginner class 🙂

January 20, 2015 at 8:07 amI’m intimidated by spin too but once you’re actually spinning, its not difficult. You just have to go early, have someone help you get set up – especially if you’re like me and struggle with clipping in. 😉

January 20, 2015 at 9:44 amHA, great question especially since I woke up SUPER dehydrated this morning. clearly I need to hydrate better. I try to carry and drink a lot of water throughout the day but I could do a better job!

January 20, 2015 at 9:35 amI actually love Mondays too! I am far from lazy on the weekends but I prefer the routine that comes along with the week and getting back into the groove. The spin class sounds like a lot of fun! I recently went to a spin class for the first time in probably 10 years and loved it too!
