Happy Friday sweaties!
I have perhaps the best news ever for all you Marina-ites out there, Seed + Salt, a new vegan and gluten-free friendly grab and go eatery has just opened its doors….and it’s good!
I have been walking by for weeks, peering in the windows and anxiously awaiting the official opening and its finally here. I stopped in on Tuesday morning (their second day open) on my way to work, grabbed a vanilla smoothie in lieu of making one myself and have to say, while expensive, it was really GOOD. I only wish they didn’t call it a shake because I kept second guessing myself about ordering a “shake” for breakfast – but honestly, there’s nothing “shake” about it – well, except of course the deliciousness of it.
I also got a good glimpse of all the other deliciousness on the menu so that when I came back later in the week, I’d be ready to order. I even had the opportunity to meet some of the keys players – Ariel Nadelberg, for starters, who is the executive chef and Laila Hertz, general manager and baker – both super nice (and talented) ladies with a real passion for what they have created.
Since my first experience was limited, given the early hour (and my OCD obsession with having a smoothie for breakfast), I held true to my promise and made it back later in the week (ok, the next day) to try more of their delicious looking menu. I ended up getting The Powerhouse sandwich which is a super flavorful black bean tempeh sando with chimichurri, flax mayo and pickled red onion (aka deliciousness) – this is one sando I’ll be ordering again! Plus, it came with pickles….and I LOVE pickles. It’s like the know me in there.
I also had to try some of Laila’s baked goods since I opted out of a muffin on Tuesday morning and went with the Almond Chocolate Chunk cookie. So good. Sooo good. Did I mention it was good?
Next on my list to try: The Smashed Chickpea Salad. You know it won’t be too long… 😉
If you’re in the Marina or San Francisco area, check out Seed + Salt for some good, clean eats. It’s located on Chestnut and Scott and is mostly grab and go with a couple of adorable community tables. Love this place, the people and the vibe – so check, check, check it out!
Stay Sweaty friends!
XOXO,
Jamie
