It’s officially time to hit restart. I spent the last week basically babying myself, using the excuse that I just ran a big race and needed time to recover. I used this as an excuse to skip workouts, to eat everything and anything in sight and otherwise, be lazy. I made it to yoga a couple of times last week but didn’t manage a single run or workout. Whoops. 😉
On Friday night I had plans for a little power hour yoga with Tasha and then went home and pigged out on Thai food with Casey. Saturday we got up and did chores, played with the little monster and then spent the rest of the day cleaning, cooking and baking. We went to a new friend’s Easter potluck on Saturday evening – so much fun – and we brought my fave cauliflower risotto recipe …
and flourless (gluten-free), vegan chocolate toffee crinkle cookies and peanut butter chocolate cookies – I might have gotten a little carried away….
Sunday we had plans with some family friends and ended up brunching at Interurban. I had the Cowboy Ranchero (sans meat, of course) and it was DELICIOUS. Fritos, eggs, cheese, avocado??? YES, PLEASE.
Casey got the french toast for his second breakfast of the day (he started the morning off with a breakfast sando from The Big Egg) and I had a bite (SO GOOD). We hear that Interurban also has a great bar menu as well so we’ll definitely be back for drinks and dinner.
After a delicious brunch, we went to meet some friends at Ecliptic Brewing for beers and “lunch.” Thankfully we had all indulged in a large breakfast so we just did snacks and beer. We got the mushroom tart, french fries and deviled eggs to share. I think the fries were the star of the show – they were perfectly crispy, salty and delicious – a perfect pairing with beer. We also ordered beers, of course. I tried the Saison (not on the menu) and the Porter. Casey had the Tarantula Belgian Dubbel and most of my Saison. The Saison was a bit too hoppy for me – I’m not a hops person – but the Porter was pretty good. It was even a bit hoppy but a bit more subtle than the Saison and palatable for me.
It’s Monday, I’m congested and I have a pretty full schedule but I’m hitting restart and getting myself back on track. After a full day of work, puppy obedience classes, and puppy patrol, I’ll be on my way to the Luna Chix Portland workout. A great way to get back in the swing of things this week and hang out with friends.
What’s on the schedule for y’all this week?
Stay sweaty friends,
XOXO,
Jamie
Good job on refocusing and getting back to your workouts. I’m a teacher on spring break, and I’m using this time to amp up my runs and strength training as much as my body will let me. No tropical vacays for me. I just want to workout and experiment with some new recipes!
Totally makes sense to me, Becca! Having a spring break sounds SO NICE!!! Enjoy your time off and good for you for taking advantage of it in such a productive way!
Hope both you ladies (J + A) are feeling better this week! Pumped to run together tonight, too! I think it’ll be a good jump-start for all of us; I woke up with an awesome “case of the Mondays” – blah – most likely the result of a post-Easter sugar crash, LOL. xo

I’m congested too and so are our twin boys!!! Great job on resting but also on refocusing – I think it’s a good thing to rest 🙂
