I don’t know about y’all but my Thanksgiving was epic. Started off the day early with a 10 mile trail run with Casey, Kellen, Travis, and Jenny. We met around 7 am and caravanned with my family up to the top of Mt. Tam – the Rock Springs trailhead – from there we took a bunch of hilly turns and trails to Alpine Lake and then looped around up and over the mountain again. It was seriously one of the most beautiful runs I’ve done in awhile. While we ran, my family got in a 5 mile hike.
Um, this lake? So pretty!
After our run, we showered and got ready for our Thanksgiving dinner and then took my family down the Palace of Fine Arts park to run around with the pup before heading over. Everyone was OBSESSED with Bella – random people were asking to take photos of her – realizing after the fact we should have charged $10 / photo. Next time…
After about an hour at the park, we were off to Berkeley to celebrate Turkey Day at Alyse’s. We had an amazing dinner – my favorite part was the mac n’ cheese (and wine, of course).
On Friday we had another early morning planned – Travis, CJ, Ehrin and I met at the base of Hawk Hill for an 8 mile headlands trail run. Another perfect day for it – and more hills to work off all that mac n’ cheese and wine (and of course rack up some more Holiday Sweat challenge points). My legs were pretty tight from Thursday’s run but was surprised that the run actually felt pretty good.
We finished quicker than I had anticipated which made it possible for me to catch up with my family on their walk to the Golden Gate bridge. After walking and running around with the pooch, we headed over to Blackwood for a delicious brunch. OMG, the potatoes are soooo good. After my family took off, Casey and I appreciated a little down time…..meaning I ran out for a quick Thai Massage (BLISS!).

Saturday we got up early-ish again and despite sore muscles, got after it at the gym. I did 4.2 miles of sprint intervals on the treadmill and then a quick weights circuit that looked a little like this:
- TRX push-ups (25) + TRX pikes (15) x3
- Kettlebell squats with 35 lbs – 10 reps x3
- Bicep curls with overheads with 15 lbs – 10 reps X3
- Mt climbers – 25 secs X3
- In/out abs – 15
- Bicycles – 50
- Push-ups – 25
After our workout we headed down towards the beach (another 1.5 roundtrip to rack up more points for Holiday Sweat) to meet friends for oysters (and in my case a lot of bread, cheese and wine). And we saw this cool Heron.
Not sure what Sunday will hold but am pretty proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish on days 4, 5, and 6 of the Holiday Sweat Challenge. How is your challenge going thus far?
Current points total: 62
Stay Sweaty friends!
XOXO,
Jamie
