Oh. Em. Gee. Today is December 9th…DECEMBER FREAKING 9th.
If you’re scratching your head or staring into your wine glass searching for answers or reasons why this day might be significant, don’t fret. If you searched for significance, didn’t find any and aren’t reading this anymore…good for you…If you’re still hanging in there, I’m sorry.
For most of us, December 9th is nothing more than another Friday. Perhaps it’s a day when you have plans for happy hour, a holiday party or better yet, a big happy date with your couch and Netflix. Or maybe you’re really lucky and you don’t have any plans at all – except to have a big glass of wine in your hands by 4pm 6pm (let’s just be real…).
While this particular date might not mean anything to you, it holds a lot of meaning for me; it’s the day that made me realize that I’m in denial. It’s when I woke up and realized that I’ve been saying, I’m going to get caught up today/tomorrow/this weekend/this month for approximately one month and 3 days since my return home from my Southeast Asia adventure.
33 days have gone by. Every single day for the last 33 days I’ve said, I’m going to get caught up….
Guess how caught up I am?
NOT AT ALL.
Like, not even a little.
It has been 33 days of not getting caught up. Somehow I thought I would get caught up while also planning our 2017 revamp of Flex & Flow, traveling to New Orleans for ShiftCon and planning almost every let’s catch up meeting ever…and while trying to get caught up while doing a million other things, I also caught myself a bad head cold (so NOT helpful in my mission to catch up…).
Don’t get me wrong, all of these things are important. Really, really important. They’re just not helpful in getting caught up.
It’s December 9th….and it’s Friday. And that means it’s Five Things Friday. My five things are all about getting caught up.
Bread cleansing.
While in New Orleans for ShiftCon, I got WAY caught up in the amazing cornbread at Willa Jean. It was melt in your mouth, can I eat the whole loaf good. Because….#breadcleanse.
Snot Nosed Brat.
I caught a bad head cold. And while you’d think I was catching myself up on sleep, instead I have been trying to catch up with the rest of the world by watching season one of Gilmore Girls. So far, I’m kind of loving to hate it. I’m still watching. But I can’t say I love it. I also can’t say that I totally hate it. Mostly, I just wonder if the Gilmore ladies will ever stop being annoying and self absorbed….and if they ever get fat from all the junk food they are CONSTANTLY eating – or maybe I’m just being a #snotnosedbrat (resurfacing a childhood nickname this week – seems to fit).
Taking my sweat INSIDE.
With all the ice and rain in Portland, I’ve been getting caught up on all of my favorite indoor workouts – I’m especially loving sledgehammer swings with the Most Fit Core Hammer, BOSU mountain climbers (holy smokes – core work!) and of course some amplified Flex & Flow HIIT Yoga workouts — If you want to try a Most Fit Core Hammer for yourself, grab 10% off using the code MFSW10 at checkout www.most-fit.com. And if you want to get yo’self an amazing new BYO BOSU, use BYOBFREESHIP at checkout for freeshipping.
Shoes on shoes on shoes.
Something I never mind getting caught up on is my running shoe collection. I was a few shoes down – my road runners were looking (and feeling!) all kinds of tore up. Took a field trip to the Nike employee store this week and came home with all the shoes…and ahem, all the things.
Taking a paws for Abbie.
After all the time I’ve spent away over the last several months, it’s only natural that I’ve been needing to take enough time out for play and snuggle time with Abbie. She can be a little demanding about how we catch up – it usually involves:
Track & fetch…a game we like to play that involves sprinting around the track and chasing balls.
Hanging out at the park…
Couch life…this usually means she’s hogging most of the couch (and the blankets) and demanding that we rub her belly. #whatabitch
Whistle Labs: And when we can’t be together, I stay caught up with all of Abbie’s activities using Whistle, a GPS tracker for your pet – it sends all of Abbie’s activities and her location directly to my phone. It’s basically my way of checking in to see just how long she’s been laying around on the couch or when she goes out to go potty or chase squirrels.
If you want to try the Whistle GPS tracker for your pet, use the code WHISTLEFIT at checkout for $30 off!
Holy moly, I gotta go, it’s time to get caught up. 😉
Stay sweaty friends!
XOXO
Jamie

December 9, 2016 at 2:14 pmI can’t believe you’ve been home for 33 days. What a whirlwind. Sometimes I feel like you never left or you just got back yesterday.
I’m glad you’re getting caught up on all the bread since you’re southeast Asia trip was so anti-gluten. Happy to continue that catch up game with you…especially if it involves seastar 😉
